We were presented with the challenge to transform an uninspiring terrace space into a destination that would provide useful and welcome outdoor space for entertaining and enjoying the tranquility of the outdoors in a jungle where greenery and nature and outdoorsyness is limited, seamlessly connecting with the newly designed interiors. The existing space, defined by uniform paving and boxed-in hedges against a glass façade, needed to be reimagined as a natural extension of the living space. CEEN created three distinct zones within the terrace. The dining area, framed by arches, features a dramatic table enveloped in 2.8m of onyx porcelain tile, complemented by a tree fern providing natural height and shelter, and maroon grasses creating evening ambiance.

The central zone is anchored by a custom Corian rock-like table, surrounded by low-level LEDs, with an aged olive tree providing natural balance to the space. The third zone functions as an outdoor living room, where evergreen bamboo surrounds a comfortable sofa, offering year-round height and privacy.

The material palette combines Caldera Gold slate veneer and black-stained wood, while Mediterranean-inspired planting adds depth and movement. Each element is carefully sourced or custom-built to balance design intent with functionality. Against Manchester's urban skyline, this elevated garden feels almost otherworldly - a floating oasis where architecture, nature, and light create moments of unexpected serenity.
